Answers to questions

Unfortunately, we can not provide an exact list of documents, as each country has different conditions for importing things.

A full list of countries can be found at : https://www.fidi.org/customs-guides

You can, but in case of self-packing, the client is responsible for the quality of the packaging, this condition is stipulated in the contract.

You'll find packaging recommendations below:

Quality materials: Use boxes made of 5-layer corrugated cardboard to ensure that they are strong and will not deform under the weight of the transport. Do not use other layers of boxes, do not use rags, sacks, bags, suitcases for transport as it is unlikely that the items will reach their destination.

Optimum box size: For heavy loads such as crockery and books, choose small boxes, e.g. 30 x 40 x 30 cm. Wrap the crockery in special paper for fragile items. For medium weight items, such as clothes and textiles, choose boxes of 60x40x40 cm, the volume of such a box is 0.1 m3. Distribute the weight evenly so that each box does not exceed 25-30kg.

Fill in the blanks: Avoid cavities in boxes by filling them with soft filler, providing extra protection for the internal contents.

Packing of oversized items: Items that do not fit in the box can be wrapped in bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard.

Furniture disassembly: Disassemble furniture as much as possible to minimise volume and prevent damage. There should be no unnecessary items inside the structures.

Labelling: Each consignment should be labelled with numbers and the name of the owner for example: 1. Mr Fedorov, do not write the contents on the box, as this should all be stated on the packing list, which is used for customs clearance and border crossing.

If the packing list is prepared in accordance with international standards and the transport and customs documents are in order, no one has the right to confiscate the goods at the border. Confiscation is only possible if the packing list does not correspond to reality or if the transported items cross the border without documents and customs clearance.

The most common payment terms we offer our customers are:

  • 50 per cent prior to the commencement of services;
  • The rest after the final volume is revealed in the warehouse after packing the items.

The additional insurance of the belongings guarantees full coverage of the damage, without additional insurance, we, as a contractor, accept liability up to a maximum of 120 euro/m3, this condition is fixed in the contract.

When choosing a mode of transport to send your belongings abroad, it is important to consider various aspects such as speed of delivery, cost, geographical accessibility and cargo characteristics. Our company can transport your belongings by sea, air and road.

Below we have listed information about their pros and cons to help you decide which type of transport best suits your needs:

Maritime Transport:

Pros:

Cost-effective: Sea freight is often more affordable, especially for large quantities. It is possible to ship a full container of your belongings by sea, or a small volume as part of a consolidated shipment

Security: Cargo on seagoing vessels is usually well protected from external factors.

Minuses:

Time: Sea freight can take a long time, especially for long distances. Delivery times by sea range from 45 to 100 days, depending on the route and the situation in the ports

Port charges: port charges are quite expensive for both full containers and bulk cargoes, on average port charges for full containers are 600 USD, for bulk cargoes 125 USD / m3.

Air Transport:

Pros:

Speed: Airfreight is the fastest way to get your belongings overseas. If you need your belongings "yesterday", this mode of transport is just right for you.

Global coverage: Airlines provide a wide range of destinations, providing global coverage.

Minimal risks: The risk of loss or damage to cargo is generally lower in aviation.

Minuses:

Cost: Air freight can be expensive, especially for large and heavy items. Air freight is calculated by volumetric weight rather than actual weight. Most often, packaged items weigh little, but they are bulky, which increases the cost of shipping. We recommend using air transport only for expensive items, otherwise the transport loses its meaning.

Motor Transport :

  1. Transport in a separate car:

Pros:

Exclusivity: Ordering a full car provides a full load of cargo space, ensuring that all your belongings are transported door-to-door in one car

Fast delivery: This option usually allows for faster delivery as there is no need to stop to load and unload other shipments

Minuses:

Border delays: queues cause delays at the border, which affects delivery times

High Cost: A full car can be more costly, especially if you don't have enough cargo volume for a full load.

  1. Transport as part of a prefabricated vehicle:

Pros:

Resource saving: A prefabricated vehicle allows the sharing of transport space with other cargo owners, which saves resources and makes transport more economical.

Time flexibility: Can provide more flexibility in choosing the date of dispatch as the shipment is collected according to the schedule. Our company dispatches weekly on Fridays to collect shipments from our terminals.

Minuses:

Possible delay: Collection vehicles may take longer due to additional stops for loading and unloading different loads.

Choosing the best mode of transport depends on many factors, including shipment size, budget, timing, geography and customer preferences. Combined options can also be used to maximise the benefits of each mode of transport.

Reloka Moving Systems is always ready to give you an estimate for any type of transport, so that you can weigh everything up and make a final decision on the shipment of your property.
